Daventry Wedding Photography

Daventry Wedding Photography -  Some of my favourite photos from Harriet and Rob's Daventry wedding day below.

Sunshine and yoga. What a great start to a wedding day.

And the sun was definitely shining on Harriet and Rob when they got married earlier this year at Park Farm in Upper Shuckburgh, Daventry.

Park Farm in Daventry is one of my favourite wedding venues – and it just happens to belong to the bride’s parents. It’s set among acres of countryside with stunning views and a gorgeous beamed barn where you can have your reception.

The wedding guests stayed in bell tents the night before – and as Rob is a professional rugby player for the Harlequins, I was fully expecting there to be much drinking and merriment already underway when I arrived on the day. But instead they’d arranged a boot camp training session for the guys and a yoga class for the women.

The wedding day champagne starts to flow

After kicking the morning off to a healthy start, each party had a champagne breakfast and began their preparations. They’d hired two photographers which is always a great way to do things because it’s fun to see what each party is doing at the same time.

It was a gloriously sunny day and the grounds had been prepared with patterns mowed into the lawn and all the way down to the marquee, where the tables were laid out and ready for the guests.

A chilled wedding theme

Harriet and Rob were keen to give their guests plenty of opportunities to relax so there were sofa zones scattered around where people could chill out after the ceremony (and of course, the wheelbarrow sack races).

The catering team came from London to provide their favourite kind of food – a traditional Argentinian grill – known as an ‘asado’ – where beef and other meats are grilled on a parilla.

A big red farm bus took Harriet’s six bridesmaids to the village church just outside of Daventry where the groom was waiting in his colourful kilt. After the vows, as the bride and groom headed off first in a classic silver convertible Merc, it was everyone back to the farm for bubbly and canapés while a sax player played chilled out tunes in the sunshine.

Time for the wedding gifts

And I’ve never come across this before. Harriet indulged them both with their love of all things beef, and gave Rob a cow! Look away now if you’re sensitive, or vegan, or both – Dexter will live happily on the farm (for a year), but he’ll be eaten on their 1st wedding anniversary.

At the wedding breakfast, the MC broke the ice (not that it needed much breaking) by getting all the guests to play an imaginary musical instrument. A photographer’s dream, it made for some excellent wedding photos!

I pulled the happy couple outside for a photo opportunity just as the sun was setting over the hills of Daventry – the light was stunning – and then the dancing began. When you have a large group of rugby players on the dance floor, you certainly know about it. The bride and groom spent most of the night up in the air!

Harriet and Rob arranged a wedding day that was fun from start to finish – they didn’t stop laughing even when they sprayed each other with champagne later in the evening. Shame about that dress…

Congratulations, Harriet and Rob! And Dexter – it was nice to meet you.
