Traditional Indian dancing, loads of colour, a bit of horseback riding and a fair amount of spinning –

what a fantastic day we had celebrating Neah’s marriage to Joseph!

I absolutely LOVE Ragley Hall as a wedding venue. It’s still a family home – it’s been the ancestral seat of the Hertford family for more than 300 years and they use the Great Hall for their own family Christmases so it has a lovely feel to it.

It also has some really gorgeous views. With 450 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland, there are plenty of opportunities to take some stunning wedding photos.

Traditional Indian wedding outfits – and that was just the guests!

Neah and Joseph had already had their English wedding in London, so this was always going to be their traditional Hindu celebration – and they really went to town!Most of the guests were dressed in Indian outfits and the colours were awesome. Purples and pinks, reds and oranges, vibrant greens and silvers – even the horse was in crimson and gold, the traditional colours of an Indian wedding. It was a wedding photographer’s dream.Yes, the horse. An absolutely beautiful white steed and the groom arrived at the venue on his back.

Meanwhile, his brother was getting the guests into the mood of the day. There was plenty of chanting, singing and arm-waving as the groom rode towards his bride…

And then – the spinning started…

Now – this may well be an ancient Hindu tradition, or it might just have been something Neah and Joseph decided to do to break the ice and have a bit of a laugh. But either way, after the horse, the singing, the chanting and an exchange of presents between family members, each member of the bride’s family picked up the corresponding member of the groom’s family and spinning ensued!

In fact, although it started with just the family, the guests refused to be left out and everyone just started spinning everyone else completely randomly. Bear in mind, this is before the ceremony and well before the reception. I could only imagine how lively this party was going to get when the bubbly started flowing.

The atmosphere was amazing

There was noise, there was colour, there was fun – and there was so much food! We ate before the ceremony, we ate after the ceremony. Okay – we even ate during the ceremony. The food just kept on coming.

A sitah player accompanied the service and it was so lovely and relaxed. You could see how much their friends enjoyed being there with them to help them celebrate their wedding.

After the service, they left to get changed leaving some of their guests to play outdoor games like boules and hoop-la. Chilled and fun was definitely the order of the day – Neah and Joseph came back and spent some time drinking beer with

their friends before I took them for a wander around the Hall and the grounds to get some photos of the two of them.

There were some formal photographs at the impressive entrance to Ragley Hall, and then some beautiful ones of the couple just walking through some of the landscaped gardens hand in hand.

And on to the speeches

Joseph’s brother is a true comedian. Once again, he got the crowd practically riotous with his speech, and a number of Joseph’s friends also took the floor to say a few words.

To say it was raucous would be an understatement. But the guests were in stitches – it really was one of the liveliest weddings I’ve covered in my time as a wedding photographer! I loved it.

And then, the dancing…
Traditional Banghra music introduced the dancing and the floor was rammed. I mean, rammed! People linked arms, they jumped, they span, they performed every type of dance and represented every culture in this colourful, noisy mixture of love, friendship and food.

What an absolutely fabulous day. Neah and Joseph – you’re a lovely couple and I’m delighted that I got to photograph you and your guests. Congratulations!
