Molly & Jacob's Festival Wedding - Festival Wedding Photographer

Some weddings just feel like they are going to be fun from the moment you meet the couple.

I met Molly at the NEC Wedding Show and knew almost immediately that her wedding would be exactly my kind of day. Molly has one of those personalities that fills a room, so I had a feeling her wedding would reflect that energy.

After a change of venue and a slight change of plans, Molly and Jacob decided their perfect wedding would be a festival wedding.Perfect.

Outdoor weddings, sunshine, colourful details, great music, drinks flowing, people laughing and enjoying themselves all day long – these are my happy place.

Crazy Wedding Morning Vibes

The day started at Molly's mum's house and, honestly, the place was chaos in the best possible way. There were people everywhere. Every room was full, conversations were happening in every corner and the excitement levels were already through the roof.

This is exactly why I love arriving early.

Whilst the morning can sometimes feel hectic, it's often where some of the most genuine moments happen. Between all the craziness, Molly somehow managed to get ready and before long it was time for one of my favourite parts of any wedding morning,  the dress reveal.

First came the bridesmaids, Then came Dad. As always, seeing a father see his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time was enough to bring a little moisture to my eyes. Thankfully, there were already plenty of tears around so nobody noticed.

With everyone ready, it was time to head to the church.

Time To Get Married

And what a day it was.

It genuinely felt like the first proper summer day of the year. Blue skies, warm sunshine and a beautiful little village church sitting right next to the field where the festival celebrations would later take place.

Guests were arriving, the groomsmen were attempting to work out how buttonholes worked, and Jacob was doing his best to look calm.

Inside the church, emotions were running high.

As Molly walked down the aisle with her dad, there were plenty of smiles, a few tears and one very happy groom waiting at the end.

One of the highlights of the ceremony came completely unexpectedly when the music suddenly started playing at the wrong moment. I still don't know which groomsman was responsible, but it definitely added a bit of extra entertainment and gave everyone a good laugh.

After the ceremony, Molly's dad had very kindly trusted Jacob with the keys to his beautiful classic car so the newlyweds could head off for a little drive.

Time To Party

Watching them disappear down the lane in the sunshine was a brilliant sight.

What happened next, however, was slightly less relaxing for me. The couple decided they wanted a confetti shot whilst driving the car. This meant I was walking backwards in front of a moving vehicle whilst trying to take photographs.

Totally safe. Absolutely no concerns whatsoever.

Fortunately I survived, and the photos were worth it. and the photos looked amazing. More importantly, the couple looked like they were having the time of their lives.

The next part of the day belonged entirely to their friends and family. Whilst Molly and Jacob mingled, everyone else enjoyed a glorious afternoon drinking in the sunshine. It genuinely felt like the perfect festival day.

Then came the speeches.

There were more tears courtesy of Molly, her dad, and Jacob's mum, whilst plenty of laughter came from the friends and family who shared stories, jokes, and memories. It was one of those sets of speeches that perfectly balanced emotion and humour.

With most of the formalities complete, it was time for more drinks and one of the day's best surprises,  an ice cream van.

A simple idea, but one that everyone absolutely loved. Given the weather, it could not have arrived at a better time.

Time To Get The Party Started

As the evening rolled on and the sun started to set, the festival atmosphere moved up another gear. Everyone headed towards the dance floor, where some highly questionable dance moves were unleashed. Thankfully, questionable dance moves often make for the best photos.

The final spectacular moment of the day came as darkness fell and the fireworks began.

Standing there watching the sky light up felt like the perfect ending to an incredible celebration.

A beautiful summer's day, a festival atmosphere, amazing people, plenty of laughter, a few tears, ice cream, fireworks, and one slightly terrified photographer trying not to get run over by a wedding car.

A truly epic festival wedding from start to finish.
