Jess & Kai – A Spring Wedding at Bourton Hall
There was a quiet moment of celebration in my mind as I arrived at Bourton Hall, it looked like this might be the first wedding of the year where guests could actually enjoy being outside. Spring had finally arrived, and the stunning grounds looked immaculate.
From the beginning, it was clear how excited Jess and Kai were for their day. Jess had a strong vision for what she wanted, and what really stood out to me was how much time and care both Kai and Jess’s dad put into making sure every detail was just right for her. Kai was so thoughtful and attentive, really focused on the small things that would mean a lot to Jess – a lovely thing to witness in the morning build up to the wedding.
The couple chose to have a two-part ceremony – first a legal one, followed by a celebrant led ceremony. I always find celebrant ceremonies to be especially. engaging and personal; they give you a real insight into the couple’s story and what makes their connection so unique. Jess and Kai’s was no exception, full of warmth, laughter, and genuine emotion.
After the ceremony, guests lined up for the traditional confetti throw before heading to the gardens for drinks. With the weather holding beautifully, everyone got to enjoy both the elegant indoor spaces and the expansive outdoor grounds Bourton Hall is known for.
Breaking with tradition, Jess kicked off the speeches herself – something that didn’t surprise me one bit. She delivered a heartfelt message, followed by Kai’s equally moving words. It was a brilliant reflection of who they are as a couple, thoughtful, sincere, and full of personality.
Once speeches wrapped up, we took advantage of some time in the gardens. Their love and connection were so natural and easy to capture – they just clicked in front of the lens. Watching the way Kai looked at Jess, how he made sure she felt special in all the little ways, even ones he might not have noticed himself, was something truly lovely.
As the evening rolled in, the party began with their first dance – a perfect moment that marked the official start of the celebrations. Jess and Kai had. mentioned how much they loved some of the nighttime images I’d previously captured at Bourton Hall, so just as the evening buffet was being served, we snuck outside once more for some magical night portraits.
It was the perfect end to a day filled with love, laughter, and so many meaningful moments. Jess and Kai, thank you for letting me be part of it.
