Nothing makes me happier as a wedding photographer than being trusted with a wedding through a referral. Paula and Richard’s special day came via Paula’s sister, who owns a wedding dress shop and has worked with thousands of photographers over the years. From the moment I met them, I knew their day was going to be extraordinary. Every detail had been carefully planned with love, not just for themselves, but for every guest. And the surprises they had in store? Absolutely unforgettable.
Pre-Wedding Festivities at Hampton Manor
The celebrations started the day before at Hampton Manor, where family and close friends gathered for a festive Christmas meal When 'I arrived on the morning Stories from the night before hinted at an evening full of laughter, and I wondered if everyone would have the energy for another big day.
It was clear pretty soon there was plenty of energy. The bubbles were flowing, the smiles were wide, and the excitement was infectious.
Bridal Prep in the Stunning Hampton Manor Cottage
Paula got ready in a beautiful cottage, a perfect mix of style and comfort. Meanwhile, Richard was buzzing around with the semi calm efficiency of the most organised groom I’ve ever met. Every small detail mattered to him, from ensuring Paula was happy to making sure guests had the best experience possible.
Guests started arriving for pre-wedding drinks, enjoying both the traditional afternoon toast and a festive Christmas drink. The mood was relaxed, joyful, and full of excitement.
A Heartfelt Humanist Ceremony
The couple chose a humanist ceremony, my favourite kind. Personal, engaging, and full of emotion, it didn’t disappoint. Paula and Richard shared tears and laughter, while guests cheered and waved emoji props. It was one of those ceremonies that perfectly reflected their personalities and the love that surrounds them.
Reception Drinks & Christmas Surprises at Hampton Manor
After the ceremony, the couple had arranged even more surprises. Carol singers greeted the guests, filling the room with festive cheer, and the wine flowed as everyone joined in, the atmosphere was lovely. Then, the biggest surprise: Father Christmas arrived! The excitement from children and adults alike was a joy to witness and a perfect way to close the drinks reception.
Wedding Breakfast & Singing Waiters
The wedding breakfast was full of more fun and surprises. Singing waiters entertained the guests, and the energy in the room kept rising. Arms were waving, guests were singing, and Paula’s sister even managed to momentarily scare the singing waiters with some sexy dance moves, a first for me!
The speeches were heartfelt, funny, and perfectly timed, wrapping up the wedding breakfast with a mix of laughter and emotion.
Evening Dancing & Celebration at Hampton Manor
As the evening approached, the free bar was discovered and guests prepared for a night of dancing. The live band, one of my favourites — set the perfect tone, and the dance floor was buzzing. Laughter, dancing, and love filled the room, making the night unforgettable.

Paula and Richard’s wedding at Hampton Magna was a perfect mix of love, laughter, and surprises. From the personal humanist ceremony to the magical Christmas touches and an electric evening of dancing, every moment was crafted with care.
